RI (Re Insurance) Assistant Manager
Department: Reinsurance
General Insurance Company / Jalan Bukit Bintang

Job Summary
Manage and lead the RI department towards its department objectives. I.e. achieving the budgeted production and profitability and optimization of reinsurance program.

Job Description

Ensure efficient flow of operation as per work flow chart of the department.
Monitor and work towards achieving budgeted results of reinsurance in terms of gross premium production and underwriting profit.
Monitor full utilization of GIS and CAB systems.
Ensure proper reinsurance placement for both facultative and treaty arrangement.
To maximize retention of company by evaluating possibility of facultative excess of loss and pool arrangement.
Review and evaluate treaty inwards business.
To underwrite facultative inwards business with overall objective in profitability.
Timely submission of reports to relevant authority such as BNM, and LSR Manager.
Maintaining good customer service to reinsurers and excellent coordination with various departments.
Supervision, motivation, team building and appraisal of staff and to ensure staff complying with policy and manual.


Expectation and KPI

· Effective management of the department. / Maximize retention with limits given.
· Ensure proper reinsurance arrangement. / Maintain cordial relationship within Company.
· Customer service standard, gross premium production and retention maximization.


Decision Making Authority

Compliance with company policy and retention.
Underwrite reinsurance inwards offer in compliance with company Underwriting Manual.
Recommend training for subordinates/ staff. / Appraise performance of subordinate staff.


Internal & External Relationship

Peers and staff in Reinsurance Dept. / Peers and staff in other departments.
Reinsurance staff and other local companies. / Professional Reinsurers.
Heads of Department. / Scheme Manager.


Job Requirement

Tertiary qualification in Business Administration, Finance, Management, Statistics or Insurance, or AMII or Partial qualification in AMII with a pass in Reinsurance.
5 years working experience in general insurance, or 4 years in Reinsurance.
Good inter-personal & communication Skills.
Supervisory, report writing & analytical skills.
Meticulous, good leadership, organization and planning skills.
Good sense of urgency and customer service oriented.
Technical knowledge of reinsurance and basic knowledge of all classes of insurance.
Company underwriting philosophy and understanding of Reinsurance practice and market.
